Anping county, near the city of Hengshui of Hebei province, has 130 logistics lines extending to more than 600 cities. Those lines have formed a national logistics network. The county is known for its wire mesh products and has more than 11,000 wire mesh-related businesses. Its wire mesh and stainless steel account for 80 percent of the domestic market sales. Anping also has more than 6,300 wire mesh stores abroad, and they have helped boost the county’s modern logistics industry. To expand its logistic network, Anping is putting 5.2 billion yuan ($838.7 million) into an international logistics industrial park covering more than 2-million square meters. When it is completed, the park is expected to handle 100,000 tons of parcels a day on average and become a cargo transfer hub in Hebei province.
The wire mesh industry in Anping dates back to the Hongzhi reign period of the Ming Dynasty (1488-1505) so it has a history of more than 500 years. It has become Anping’s leading industry. Anping has been called China’s "Town of wire mesh", "Wire mesh industrial base", Wire mesh production and sales base", "Wire mesh export base", "National foreign trade transformation and upgrade demonstration base", and "Wire mesh city".
Anping county is a "national pigs reserve base " and it ranks very high in live pigs sales. It is also a provincial agricultural industrialization demonstration facility and is working with Beijing’s Ershang Group. It also handles Hebei Anping Dahongmen Food Co’s 500-million-yuan ($80.64 million) slaughter and food processing project. When these projects are fully operating, annual production value is expected to reach 3-billion yuan.
Filters and materials
Filter and fiber materials are a new industry built on Anping’s wire mesh business, with woven wire mesh for filters mostly made of stainless steel, copper mesh, nickel, and rare metals. This is a large business for the county, one of China’s six filter industrial clusters and home to more than 1,000 filter manufacturers. The county has developed a complete industrial chain from the production of shell to filter paper and cartridges to assembly. In 2012, its output value was more than 4-billion yuan and it employed 30,000 people. Its main products cover more than 1,000 specifications in five categories, such as auto filters for air, gasoline, and engine oil; melt filters; filters for industrial use; sintering net filters; and filter paper and cartridges. These are widely used in aerospace, aviation, automobile, petroleum, chemical, pharmaceutical, and water treatment sectors and are sold to more than 30 large companies, such as Volkswagen, the Chinese machinery maker XCMG Group, Foton Lovol, and Shandong Lingong Machinery Co.
Anping’a auto parts industry emerged in the 1970s and has become a new, large pillar industry after many years of development. The county is home to a total of 219 auto parts producers, with more than 6,000 pieces of equipment for production, testing, and milling introduced from Germany, the US, Japan, and Taiwan. Its output value has reached around 3-billion yuan ($483.87 million) and there are 20,000 people in the industry, with more than 260 types of products, such as steering gears, transmissions, filters, and mufflers. It has also developed a group of leading enterprises, including two companies each with an annual output value of over 100 million yuan and 10 enterprises each with an output value of more than 10 million yuan. Its Chengjie Co and Yulong Co are key enterprises with governmental support.
